Biden’s poll numbers and 2021 gun sales – Bearing Arms

Both 2020 and 2021 have been great for gun sales. I mean, it’s a hell of a time to be in the gun business. That’s clear from the NICS numbers we see month after month. It’s downright impressive how well sales are going.

There are a lot of reasons for that, too. From the pandemic to economic concerns to soaring crime, people don’t have to look hard to find a reason to purchase a firearm.

Yet some are making the case that President Joe Biden’s approval numbers are linked to these gun sales.

According to Rasmussen’s survey, 51 percent of likely voters give Biden a poor rating for his ability to handle rising crime. Back in July, 48 percent of poll respondents gave the president bad marks on this subject. Rasmussen revealed 77 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of Independents rate the president’s handling of crime and law enforcement issues to be poor.

“Since Joe Biden took office,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “millions of Americans who had never before owned a firearm bought one. During the week leading up to ‘Black Friday’ in November, there were more than 687,000 NICS checks initiated, and we anticipate strong numbers for December when the final tally is available.

“Since Biden took office,” he continued, “police agencies have continued to lose personnel, crime has spiked upward and increasing numbers of Americans have taken more responsibility for their personal safety and that of their families. For a guy who came into office promising more restrictions on legal firearms ownership, Joe Biden has only stoked gun sales because his policies are making Americans feel less safe, because, in fact, they are .

Gottlieb isn’t wrong.

Biden has managed to bungle pretty much everything he’s touched since taking office. That’s an impressive track record, really. I mean, you’d think he’d at least have accidentally got something right – I mean, besides agreeing with someone who said, “Let’s go, Brandon!” – and yet, here we are.

For our purposes here, the issue is really about crime and how badly both Biden and his fellow Democrats have handled it. I mean, they spent last summer either actively supporting the idea of defunding the police or remaining silent. They backed reform efforts that turned cell doors into revolving doors. They backed efforts that released thousands of inmates from correctional facilities over COVID-19 concerns.

I mean, they backed a lot of measures that can easily be argued to have attributed to the surge in violent crime.

Amid all that, though, they’re also trying to restrict the law-abiding citizens’ right to buy a gun.

No, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, either, except when you remember that they seem to think that criminals buy guns from gun stores the same way as law-abiding citizens or something along those lines.

Because of all of these factors, people aren’t going to be thrilled with the Biden presidency, and they’re going to buy guns to protect themselves since there’s absolutely no way you’re going to convince anyone that short-staffed police departments are going to do it for you.

The truth of the matter is that while Obama was the gun salesman of the decade for the first two decades of the 21st century, his former vice president is doing everything he can to eclipse that legacy.

While I’m thrilled to see so many new gun owners, I’d much rather Brandon be denied the opportunity to…encourage so many gun sales in the first place.

New gun owners are good, but rampant crime isn’t.

So yeah, the idea that Biden’s poor approval rating and the surge in gun sales being related isn’t far-fetched by any means.
