He ‘Blamed The Post but HE Was the Liar and the Fraud’ – RedState

As RedState reported earlier, another shoe has dropped in the ever-worsening saga of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his twin scandals. The first, accusations of inappropriate sexual behavior made by three women, two of them former aides, and second, the nursing home death-count scandal, which not only involves manipulation of total nursing home COVID deaths, but also an attempt by his administration to cover up the misrepresentation.

As my colleague Sister Toldjah reported, news broke on Thursday night that senior Cuomo advisers did indeed alter a July report on nursing home deaths in an effort to obscure the actual — and much higher— death-count total.

So let’s back up the bus a bit.

As reported by The New York Post on Friday, Cuomo on July 24, 2020, was asked about criticism of his handling of COVID-19 in nursing homes. His response:

“I believe it is a political issue. I think it’s The New York Post, I think it’s Michael Goodwin, I think it’s Bob McManus, I think it’s Fox TV. I think it is all politically motivated.

“If anybody looked at the facts, they would know that it was wholly absurd on its face. People died in nursing homes. That’s very unfortunate. Just on the top line, we are number 35th in the nation in percentage of deaths in nursing homes.

“Go talk to 34 other states first. Go talk to the Republican states now. Florida, Texas, Arizona. Ask them what is happening in nursing homes. It’s all politics.”

In other words, Andrew Cuomo went full-metal Andrew Cuomo, which means accepting no blame, while blaming everyone and everything else he can think of, and outright lying.

As The New York Post noted, we now know why New York’s stats ranked 35th in the nation in July 2020 — Cuomo was engaged in a criminal coverup to hide the true numbers.

GAME. ON.

Wednesday morning, The Post’s editorial board torched Cuomo to a smoldering heap in a scathing and well-deserved op-ed. “That same month [July]”, they wrote:

“State health officials were prepared to say that nearly 10,000 nursing home residents had died of coronavirus … but Cuomo and his aides scrubbed that number out of the report, realizing that it would destroy his entire facade of competent leadership.”

And then this money-shot:

“Didn’t these officials realize he had a self-congratulatory book to write?!”

Even the title of Cuomo’s book — American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic — is grotesque, given the facts we are now learning.

“An impressive road map to dealing with a crisis as serious as any we have faced,” said the joke commonly referred to as The Washington Post.

The Post reported on Thursday:

“Instead, the July state Health Department report listed only the nursing home residents who died from the virus at their facilities, far undercounting the total death toll of the state’s most vulnerable population […].

The revelation further confirms the Cuomo administration possessed a more complete accounting of the COVID-nursing death count during the summer, but waited eight more months to cough up the true totals after repeatedly stonewalling lawmakers and the media, losing a lawsuit, and being subjected to a damning state attorney general report.”

The editorial board concluded its op-ed in blistering fashion:

“Cuomo lied. He falsified reports. Then he blamed us, saying it was all politically motivated.’

“Beset with investigations over nursing homes and sexual harassment, Cuomo is turning to his regular responses: bullying, filibustering, ‘wait for the inquiry.’ He swears he’s innocent.

“But he’s proven himself a liar over and over again. How can any New Yorker ever believe a word he says?”

Amen. And speaking Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal, the Luv Guv couldn’t have handled it more disastrously if he tried. After the third accuser came forward, the embattled governor issued a bizarre statement in which he attempted to explain away the entire scandal by suggesting he was “just being playful” with his accusers and that his actions “may have misinterpreted as unwanted flirtation.”

Translation: “My INTENT was not inappropriate. Therefore, the PERCEPTION of these women is incorrect.” Sorry, Luv Guv, that’s not how allegations of sexual harassment work. You know, the same way accusations of racism don’t work?

Also, check out Sister Toldjah’s analysis of Cuomo accuser Charlotte Bennett’s interview with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell this week in which she detailed her alleged experiences with Cuomo during her time as an executive assistant in his administration.

So the question that not only remains but grows louder by the day is this:

Will Andrew Cuomo resign, be impeached by the New York State Legislature if he refuses to do so, or will he slither out of two serious scandals, aided and abetted by the Democrat Party? A sizable percentage of people I interact with on a daily basis believe that Cuomo, “like all Democrats,” will be protected by his Democrat comrades and escape justice.

I am not among them.

True, the Democrat Party vociferously defends its own in cases such as this one, hypocritically and dishonestly so. But when Democrats come to a collective conclusion that the amount of blood in the water is steadily increasing, they throw “their own” under the bus as far as they can throw them in a New York minute. Just ask Stuart Smalley.
