Mainstream media “fact-checkers” continue to prove themselves to be less concerned about the facts and more concerned about protecting Democrat politicians, effectively making them a propaganda arm of the Democrat party. A perfect example at this time is how, despite having New York Andrew Cuomo dead to rights on his fatal nursing home policies, PolitiFact is still attempting to shelter him from the fallout with some carefully worded “fact-checking.”
As highlighted by The Federalist, PolitiFact published an August article that zeroed in on former assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services Michael Caputo, who pointed at Cuomo for the disastrous policies that lead to the deaths of thousands of elderly New Yorkers after he placed COVID-19 positive patients in unsecured nursing homes. PolitiFact ruled this claim as “mostly false.” Their reasoning is that viruses killing elderly people in nursing homes isn’t uncommon and that Caputo’s claim that Cuomo’s policies were solely responsible was false.
Fast-forward to today and despite the fact that evidence has surfaced that proved Caputo right, PolitiFact is standing on their ruling according to The Federalist:
On Tuesday, PolitiFact updated the article with an editor’s note acknowledging that Cuomo “has faced increasing scrutiny regarding his handling of information related to covid-related deaths among nursing home residents.” The amendment states, however, that despite the new incriminating evidence revealed by the state’s attorney general and a confession from Cuomo’s top aide that it was indeed the governor’s office responsible for covering up many of the deaths that occurred under his policy, Caputo’s original statement is still labeled “mostly false.”
“The fact check itself focused on a policy issued by Cuomo in March directing nursing homes in the state to accept patients who had or were suspected of having covid-19. As long as they were medically stable, the notice said, it was appropriate to move patients in,” the note states. “Our ruling of Mostly False is unchanged by this new information. That rating was based on evidence that while the introduction of covid-19 positive patients into nursing homes no doubt had an effect on the spread of the coronavirus, Caputo’s statement suggested it was solely responsible. That’s not what the evidence showed, then or now.”
Looking back at Caputo’s statement, however, shows that he never made that claim. His exact wording that PolitiFact focused in on was a question posed by Caputo in a tweet made after Cuomo’s speech at the DNC.
“Does the #DemConvention know @NYGovCuomo forced nursing homes across NY to take in COVID positive patients and planted the seeds of infection that killed thousands of grandmothers and grandfathers?” Caputo tweeted.
Caputo’s tweet doesn’t indicate that he was solely responsible as PolitiFact claims, just that Cuomo helped begin the spread within these homes that resulted in thousands dead.
So PolitiFact is lying, and it’s lying on behalf of a man whose policy decisions helped kill thousands of elderly New Yorkers. Not only that, they’re defending a man who attempted to hide these numbers from the public in order to defend his reputation. What’s more, they’re defending a man who is losing support from his own party and is now facing impeachment over his policy decisions.

Again, these aren’t fact-checkers, these are propagandists.
