Actor Mark Ruffalo Gets Reamed On Twitter For Stupid Remark On Immigration

Actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Incredible Hulk in the Avengers movies, stepped in it on Thursday when he made a ridiculous comment regarding immigration on Twitter. This story is yet another example of what happens when white progressive virtue-signaling goes wrong.

During the final presidential debate, Ruffalo apparently became offended by the argument over illegal immigration and it seems he thought it was the perfect opportunity to show his fans how progressive he is. “Unless you are Native American you are an immigrant in this country. FULL STOP,” he tweeted. “We all came from somewhere else. We are living on their ancestral land. We all came from somewhere else.”

You probably already know what happened next. A flood of detractors swarmed the actor in the comments on the now-deleted tweet. Here is a sampling of responses:

Historian Blair Amadeus Imani was much nicer in correcting the failed virtue signaler. “Mark, there’s the descendants of enslaved people. We don’t consider ourselves immigrants we were forcibly brought here against our will,” she replied.

Ruffalo, hoping to salvage some dignity, responded to Imani: “Dear Blair, you are right on here. That is profound and true. I stand corrected. I always learn from you and always come away more mindful of the power and depth of our words and what they mean. But also what is being left out of the conversation. Thank you.”

After numerous demands to delete his tweet, the actor took it down. But the fact that he posted it in the first place reveals something that many already know: White progressives don’t care about black people.

People like Ruffalo love to appear as if they are in solidarity with minorities, but in reality, all they are after is accolades and adoration. It is why people like him can so easily forget that not everyone who traveled to this country did so willingly. In trying to signal his deep appreciation for Native Americans, he left out a significant part of America’s history.

But there is more to this. Many white progressives like Ruffalo use this argument when they are arguing for open borders. But how many of them actually do anything for Native Americans? Is Ruffalo going to give up his house and land and give it to a Native American tribe?

Of course not.

High-profile white progressive like Ruffalo view Native Americans just like they view black people: As political tools to be used to advance their agenda. It is part and parcel of their effort to infuse American society with their form of cultural Marxism, nothing more, nothing less. But, at least in this instance, the blatant virtue signaling attempt was shouted down.
