FBI agents on Monday declared Brian Laundrie’s home an “active crime scene.” This development comes the day after remains believed to be those of Gabrielle Petito were found in a Wyoming park nearly a month after she went missing.
An FBI official informed media and bystanders that the area was “now an active crime scene.” Brian’s parents were taken from the home and placed in a van. The Bureau is executing a search warrant related to the Petito case.

The Washington Examiner reported:
Police have been searching for Laundrie for several days. Authorities looked for him in a vast wildlife preserve in Sarasota County Sunday but announced Monday morning that they had no plans to conduct a major search of the Carlton Reserve again.
Laundrie was the last person known to have seen Petito alive. He and his girlfriend had been on a nationwide road trip when she went missing in August. After she had been missing for weeks, her parents filed a missing person report on Sept. 11. Laundrie returned from the trip on Sept. 1 but refused to speak with law enforcement about his girlfriend’s disappearance.
Laundrie’s parents reported him missing on Friday when he left for the Carlton Reserve with a backpack but did not return. The North Port Police Department issued a press release stating that they are no longer searching for him in the Carlton Reserve because they have “exhausted all avenues in searching of the grounds there,” and that “law enforcement agencies continue to search for Brian Laundrie.”
The couple originally embarked on their road trip on July 22 from New York. They made stops in various states including Utah and Colorado. When they were in Utah, police were called after they got into a physical altercation.
Laundrie’s family has refused to speak with law enforcement. When police visited their home previously, they referred the officers to their attorney.
As of now, Laundrie is still considered a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance and the authorities have made it clear that he is not yet considered a suspect. The search for Laundrie is ongoing.
