At least two people were killed and 14 wounded after a shooting broke out at a backyard party in Rochester, New York, on Friday night, in what police are calling a “tragedy of epic proportions.”
As reported by The New York Post, shots rang out about 12:25 a.m., less than two miles from downtown Rochester, the scene of multiple nights of rioting in early September after a video was released showing officers holding Daniel Prude on the ground. Prude stopped breathing and was declared brain dead at a hospital, and died a week later.
The hail of gunfire sounded like “an all-out warzone,” witnesses said.
Acting Rochester Police Chief Mark Simmons announced in an early morning news conference a man and a woman between the ages of 18 and 22 were slain, as reported by ABC 13 in Rochester.
“This is truly a tragedy of epic proportions if you ask me. I mean, 16 victims is unheard of. For our community, who is right now going through so much, to have to be dealt [this] tragedy needlessly because of people who decide to act in a violent manner, is unfortunate, it’s shameful, and we’re going to do everything we can as a department to bring those people involved to justice.”
Ah, there’s that word. “Justice.”

“This is not a moment for self-reflection. This is a moment that I’m asking the community to pray for the victims and their families. A lot of people are hurting right now.”

A John Bolton parody account noted an all-too-common occurrence — make that non-occurrence — when these sorts of tragedies happen.
Police investigating video that appears to depict shooting or shootout at Rochester bar | SO THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW! CNN is running reruns but this is happening. Wonder Why?

Yeah, wonder why?
To the Bolton parody account’s point, the shooting did not immediately appear to be related to the protests that have rocked Rochester since the video surfaced earlier this month of the fatal arrest of Prude.
Where was CNN? MSNBC? Rioting in the streets?
While the names of the victims were not immediately released, it’s clear there’s a double standard in play here — the same double standard in play in the bloody streets of Chicago, and elsewhere, every weekend, where dozens of people are shot, and multiple people killed.
Where are Nancy Pelosi and her kneeling Democrat colleagues? Where is Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Barack Obama?
They are all hiding in the same crowded closet.
BlazeTV host Elijah Schaffer told us what we already knew.
BREAKING: 2 killed, 10 confirmed wounded in mass shooting in Rochester, New York
This is the same city fighting to defund the police and stop new precincts from being built
And the same BLM/Antifa protesters who assaulted and threatened to kill me https://t.co/3NvBBoWGPl

Democrats and the liberal media are once again hiding from the inconvenient truth. Hiding from yet another inconvenient shooting that doesn’t fit their narrative. I could cite current crime statistics but to paraphrase Hillary, what difference would it make?
We won’t see the names of those killed on “say her name” or “say his name” signs. We won’t hear about their lives mattering. Their names will just be added to the ever-growing list of gun-death statistics.
Crickets. Friday’s shooting in Rochester didn’t fit the narrative.
