Dr. Ben Carson says he feels “very fortunate” to have Comcast and Verizon as his television, internet, and cell phone services, because “they have the good sense” to not censor Newsmax like DirecTV has.
“It’s very concerning and I’m happy that a number of Republican congressional people are talking about looking into this,” Carson told Friday night’s “Prime News” with Jenn Pellegrino.
“I would like to see some Democrats join them, because this is not a Republican or Democrat issue. We are talking about freedom in our country.”
DirecTV said it was taking the step as a “cost-cutting” – a similar claim made after it deplatformed OAN last year.

DirecTV continues to carry 22 liberal news channels, many with low ratings and all get paid hefty license fees.
Newsmax was seeking a small fee, as the nation’s 4th highest-rated cable news channel.
“The very First Amendment to our Constitution talks about freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and it’s being suppressed,” Carson added to Pellegrino.
Defenders of freedom and conservatism are denouncing what is an existential threat to Newsmax and freedom of speech in America, and Carson saluted his service providers for not engaging in the political discrimination of AT&T DirecTV.
“I just feel very fortunate my services are Comcast and Verizon,” Carson concluded. “They have the good sense to carry it. I’m very delighted about that.
“But, obviously, we need to continue to fight.”
