I Told You So; It Was Never Trump Who Putin Supported

I told you so. At least far back as July 2019, I’ve been saying that Vladimir Putin’s objective was never to help Donald Trump get elected. Instead, the bare chested bear hunter was only interested in sowing chaos in the United States. He did so by undermining public confidence in our electoral system, while the Democrats helped him.

In July 2019, I called in to the David Webb** show on Sirius XM. Mr Webb kindly continued my call across a segment break so we could discuss the former Soviet, now Russian tactic of Disinformatziya…disinformation. During that conversation, I explained how Putin, through a GRU (Russian Army Intelligence) or the SVR (foreign Intelligence Service equivalent to our CIA) was able to mount a low cost information/disinformation operation that we are still feeling the repercussions of today.

As I noted to Mr Webb, the Russians won big time, with help from their like thinking fellow travelers, the press and the Democrat party. Their objective was to sow chaos and engender uncertainty. Well folks, we can all see, they did just that and to a fair thee well. This lightly funded operation, likely overseen by some GRU Lieutenant Colonel, has exceeded all expectations. For a few hundred thousand bucks, this guy has managed on a shoestring, to sap the energy of the Trump Administration for almost 3 years while destroying our confidence in our elections. Brilliant.

Webb and I also discussed who Putin favored in the election. My pick was then and remains, the criminal crone from Chappaqua. I say this for two major reasons. First of all, she is as corrupt as the day is long. I’ve seen snakes slither straighter than she operates. That means the Russians certainly have some really good dirt on her, making her vulnerable.

Most importantly however, is that she is predictable while Trump is not. As I explained to Mr Webb, the one thing the Soviets and now the Russians crave out of any American President, is predictability. That isn’t Donald John Trump. They have no idea which way he will jump. That makes folks like Putin, Xi, Kim or any other despot nervous.

It looks like the opinion of this old, beat down Infantryman was just validated. Over at Real Clear Investigations, Paul Sherry writes:

Former CIA Director John Brennan personally edited a crucial section of the intelligence report on Russian interference in the 2016 election and assigned a political ally to take a lead role in writing it after career analysts disputed Brennan’s take that Russian leader Vladimir Putin intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump clinch the White House, according to two senior U.S. intelligence officials who have seen classified materials detailing Brennan’s role in drafting the document.

Further down:

The explosive conclusion Brennan inserted into the report was used to help justify continuing the Trump-Russia “collusion” investigation, which had been launched by the FBI in 2016. It was picked up after the election by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who in the end found no proof that Trump or his campaign conspired with Moscow.

It’s an extensive article. Please take time to read the whole thing. It’ll be well worth your time.

Here’s the significant part (emphasis, mine)

The two officials said Brennan, who openly supported Clinton during the campaign, excluded conflicting evidence about Putin’s motives from the report, despite objections from some intelligence analysts who argued Putin counted on Clinton winning the election and viewed Trump as a “wild card.”

The dissenting analysts found that Moscow preferred Clinton because it judged she would work with its leaders, whereas it worried Trump would be too unpredictable.

Wild card. Unpredictable. Sounds like somebody familiar. Somebody who the then Soviet Union referred to as a cowboy. Yep. The Soviets were right to refer to Reagan as a cowboy. That cowboy, Ronald Wilson Reagan, with malice and forethought, spent the Soviet Union out of the game.

Not quite finally, the analysts confirm what anyone could see all along. Putin never had any desire to help Trump. His desire was and still is about sowing chaos.

These same analysts argued the Kremlin was generally trying to sow discord and disrupt the American democratic process during the 2016 election cycle. They also noted that Russia tried to interfere in the 2008 and 2012 races, many years before Trump threw his hat in the ring.

What is so sad about this whole sordid mess, is that not only was this fairly obvious, but the harm this operation had an effect far in excess of the resources put towards it. What’s much worse, is that the Democrat Party, from Hillary Clinton on down, care so little for their fellow Americans. Their unbridled lust for power, enabled Vladimir Putin to continue using them to this day to foment chaos. If anyone should be prosecuted for helping Putin, it should be Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, the DNC and of course Hillary Clinton.

Of course, that will never happen. Knowing that Trump-Russian collusion has run its course, it’s time to move on to the next made up issue. Only this time, Democrats are actively promoting the lie that Blacks are being targeted for death by police officers. So now we have more chaos…rioting, looting, arson and the assassination of American citizens. Thanks Democrats.
