Lindsey Graham: James Comey to Testify Before Senate Committee

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham announced that former FBI Director James Comey will testify publicly before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 30.

During a Wednesday appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” the South Carolina lawmaker said Comey agreed to appear voluntarily and there was no need to issue a subpoena.

Comey will be questioned in regard to “Crossfire Hurricane” the probe of the FBI’s 2016 Russia election interference investigation.

“The day of reckoning is upon us when it comes to Crossfire Hurricane,” Graham said. “I appreciate Mr. Comey coming before the committee and he will be respectfully treated but asked hard questions.”

Graham said the panel is currently negotiating with former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe. He said he hopes McCabe agrees to appear before the panel without a subpoena and said “time will tell.”

He also said former FBI agent Peter Strzok was invited to testify voluntarily. He noted that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller refused to testify before the committee.

“Mueller has declined the invitation to the committee to appear to explain his report,” Graham said. “[Mueller] says he doesn’t have enough time.”

Host Sean Hannity asked whether Graham will accept Mueller’s decision not to testify amid controversy that members of his team wiped their cellphones before the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General could inspect them.

Graham said the report is “fishy as hell” and that he will ask the DOJ and inspector general to look into the incidents.
