Sen. Cotton: Biden Has Empowered Anti-police Movement

Protesters chanting “we hope they die” at a hospital where two Los Angeles County deputies are struggling for their lives after a weekend ambush are engaging in the kind of activity that Joe Biden has been empowering, Sen. Tom Cotton said Monday.

“We have had four months where Democrats have refused to condemn this kind of terrible anti-police rhetoric,” the Arkansas Republican said on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” “Radicals [were] protesting in the emergency room entrance of the hospital where those two police officers struggled for their lives, chanting, ‘We hope they die.’ That’s the kind of movement that Joe Biden supports and has empowered. That’s what the Democrats have celebrated and marched alongside for four months.”

Such rhetoric is “disgusting,” said Cotton. “We all as a nation ought to be praying for police officers every day to come home safe and if they are injured in the line of duty to survive their injuries.”

Biden has condemned the shootings, calling the attack “unconscionable” and demanding that the suspect be brought to justice. He also has called for a ban on “assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” saying “weapons of war have no place in our communities.”

Cotton also commented on President Donald Trump’s campaign speech claims in Las Vegas that Biden has spent the last 47 years “selling out America” on jobs, the border, and depleting the military. He also said Biden has sold the country’s future to China.

“After eight years of devastating Obama-Biden cuts the president has helped rebuild our military,” said Cotton. “This week is the 20th anniversary of Joe Biden voting to give permanent most-favored-nation status to China. Just think about that, most-favored-nation status to a communist country.”

The senator said he’s introducing legislation to stop countries from being able to have permanent most-favored-nation status and instead allow the president and Congress to decide on it annually.
