Biden Weighs Attending Las Vegas Hotel Workers Protest

President Joe Biden may join Las Vegas hotel employees from the Nevada Culinary Workers Union Local 226 on the picket line if a deal isn’t met and they decide to strike on Monday, union chief Ted Pappageorge told Reuters.

The negotiations for a deal between workers and the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino — in the 2024 election battleground state — must come together by early Monday morning. If a deal is not met, a strike could spark.

The union, influential in Nevada politics, has secured over 30 agreements with other Vegas hotels, benefiting 50,000 workers. Biden’s campaign has not commented on a slated appearance.

If he follows through, the action would follow similarly to his support for striking autoworkers in Michigan. This comes as both Biden and former President Donald Trump vie for labor support in the lead-up to the November general election, with Nevada playing a critical role.

Information from Reuters was used in this report.
