Maxine Waters Asked for Police Protection During Trip Where She Urged Being ‘Confrontational’ – RedState

According to Townhall Editor Katie Pavlich, travel logs show that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) requested police protection on her trip to Minnesota where she urged activists to get “more confrontational.” The logs show she went from Dulles International Airport to Minnesota-St. Paul International Airport. She ultimately went to Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, where she met with the activists.

As we previously reported, Waters railed against the police and made comments trying to influence the jury in the Chauvin trial to a guilty verdict.

“I know this, we’ve got to stay in the streets,” Waters said to the activists who were there. “We are looking for a guilty verdict.” “I am very hopeful and I hope that we are going to get a verdict that is guilty, guilty, guilty,” she continued. “And if we don’t, we cannot go away.”

“We’ve got to stay in the street and we’ve got to get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational,” Waters said. “We’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business.”

After she made those comments on Saturday night, members of the Minnesota National Guard, who were patrolling with the police in Minneapolis, were shot at by a man shooting from a car. Two members of the guard were slightly injured during the incident, one from shattered glass. The other injury was not clear, but was described, fortunately, as superficial.

It’s obviously more than a little hypocritical, given Waters’ antipathy toward the police to have police protection along the way. Plus, she has Capitol Police around her all the time when she’s in D.C., unlike the people living in places where they’ve cut back on policing because of the BLM. Now her words may have whipped up more people and more violence, but she wouldn’t have to suffer the consequences of her words. Unfortunately, other people will.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dismissed Waters’ remarks saying she didn’t need to apologize for them.

Republicans have blasted Waters for her words, with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy saying he will act if Pelosi doesn’t. He later said he would be proposing a censure motion. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was proposing a resolution calling for expelling Waters.

Waters’ comments were even criticized by the judge in the Chauvin trial, Judge Peter Cahill. Cahill told Chauvin’s defense attorney, “I’ll give you that congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned.” He also told officials to stop commenting on the case. The defense called Waters’ remarks “threatening acts of violence.”
